How to care for…

Derby Calf

With its pronounced grain and dry yet supple and sumptuous hand feel, Delvaux's Derby Calf leather combines character and durability, making it perfect for everyday use.

Care instructions

Your Delvaux is made from the highest quality Derby Calf leather sourced from Europe. It has been selected and crafted with the greatest care by our master craftsmen in our workshops in Belgium and France.

We recommend taking the following steps to preserve the timeless beauty of your leather:

  • First of all, if your Delvaux should be damaged in any way, please take it to one of our boutiques or contact our customer support.

  • Store your Delvaux in its original dustbag and fill it with tissue paper to preserve its shape.

  • Take care not to overfill your Delvaux as this could permanently damage its shape.

  • Avoid all contact with oil, grease, perfume, and cosmetics.

  • If the leather gets wet, gently dab it dry with a soft, clean cloth to avoid staining.

  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat to avoid any fading or discolouration.

  • Avoid contact between dark-coloured clothing and light-coloured leathers and between dark-coloured leathers and light-coloured garments, as dye transfer could occur.

  • The metal hardware will develop a patina over time. Any metal pieces may be cleaned by gently rubbing them with a soft, dry, non-abrasive cloth.

  • To ensure your leather remains nourished and protected, we recommend using Delvaux’s ‘First Care’ range. Do not use the 'First Care' range on embroideries.

How to use Delvaux’s ‘First Care’ range:

Please watch the video and carefully follow the instructions outlined below:

1. Begin by spreading a small amount of cleaning lotion onto the cloth provided and rub it into the bottom of your bag.

2. Let the lotion set for ten minutes, then wipe the area clean with the cloth.

3. Continue rubbing the lotion all over the rest of the leather making sure to avoid the bag’s interior. Use sweeping, circular movements to ensure the lotion is evenly distributed across the bag’s exterior.

4. Let the lotion set for ten minutes, then wipe the area clean with the cloth. Go over any areas where the lotion has not been fully absorbed.

5. To restore the leather's shine, buff with the glove provided or with a very soft cloth. Let dry for 30-60 minutes.

6. To finish, use the dedicated cloth included with your Delvaux. Shake it out to remove any dust, then gently rub your accessory with the clean cloth.
