In 1829, a year before Belgium claimed its independence, Charles Delvaux established la Maison Delvaux, opening his inaugural travel goods workshop in the heart of Brussels. Orders swiftly poured in from Rue Neuve, Boulevard du Nord, and Rue de l’Empereur, with every artisan hand on deck.

La Maison Delvaux is on trains, ocean liners, and intercontinental flights of a connected world. For independent women who traveled light, Delvaux invented the leather handbag, patented in 1908. In 1946, La Maison unveiled the revolutionary Avia Airess suitcase – the first of its kind, patented expressly for airline travel. 

Its distinctive supple and elegant leather exterior concealed an ingenious removable, durable, yet feather-light alloy frame. From the fifties onward, la Maison Delvaux unveiled seasonal collections inspired by haute couture, resulting in timeless masterpieces such as Le Brillant in 1958, Le Tempête in 1967 and Le Pin in 1972.

Since 1908, over three thousand designs have been meticulously catalogued in “le Livre d’Or,” the sacred repository of la Maison Delvaux’s unparalleled craftsmanship and innovative spirit.
